Stubbington Fayre 1988

CROWDS of villagers packed out their local recreation ground for a day of fun.

Stubbington Fair celebrated its tenth anniversary when it was held on August 31, 1988.

A marching band entertained the masses with their music, whilst the donkey derby provided exciting rides for youngsters – many of which were garbed in fancy dress.

Veteran cars gave adults something to marvel at, whilst others teamed up with their kids for the four-legged races.

The fair was opened by Miss Fareham, Denise Oppizzi, who arrived at the ground with an attendant in a Rolls Royce.

The event was sponsored by Fareham Lions Club and raised money for local charities.

  1. Hello, I was trying to find out how old Stubbington Fayre is which is how I ended up on this page. I know that this couldn’t have been the 10th anniversary as I was going to the Fayre in the late 60s, and one of my mum’s friends was the Fayre Queen in the late 50s. Can anyone confirm when it did start?
